Finding the funds - a happy story
When we made the move towards independence as an organisation back in 2020, we didn't know that a pandemic was about to knock every community organisation in the country back on it's heels. With a little bit of legacy funding from performance poetry organisation Apples and Snakes (who had been our umbrella for so long) we sallied forth in hope, and kept our core activities going through that challenging year.
We started 2021 with a sense of finally lifting our heads above the parapet, looking forwards to new adventures - if we could only raise some money! It's with huge gratitude that we can announce a very ambitious programme of activity this summer and autumn, thanks to successful bids to the National Lottery Community Fund, Arts Council England, Stockton Libraries and ARC Stockton.
So what's going on? Well, you'll have to see our Events page for a full run-down of free events, some for women only and some open to the general public. There are workshops, writing walks, social gatherings, and online open mics! Plus, we will soon be starting to work with three fabulous charity partners to deliver performance poetry workshops to women who are volunteers, women who are involved in active citizenship and solutions to poverty, and women who have experience of addiction and recovery. Watch this space as these exciting participatory projects unfold!
